I go into town a lot, like maybe 3/4 nights a week. I normally use Dublin bikes to get in and taxi home. I want to just use my own bike. I currently cycle a new Specialized Allez Sport 2013 and I kinda dont want to be leaving it around town when I am drinking as sometimes I don't make it home.

Thing is, if I get a decent lock is there anywhere I can safly put this overnight in town? Or should I just buy a cheap bike from donedeal of elsewhere and a decent lock?

On any given night I'd say your chances of the bike being fine are good. But as a policy, I think its just a matter of time before some knacker decides the most enjoyable thing to do is to stamp on it until the wheels are bent in half and the gear changers are smashed off. I've left my bike (e500 Giant) in town overnight a few times and it was ok, and I've gone drinking with it locked outside a few times, but really it's probably not a good idea, especially with something as fancy-sounding as yours.

Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit mini locking the rear wheel and frame, and a Mini-Evolution around the front wheel, if you locked it in Drury Street car park it'd be safe and sound because they'd more than likely move on to another bike which isn't impossible to get through.

If you're leaving it on the street, get a banger.

Get a town specific bike, I use a single speed for getting around Kilkenny as it's flat. The bike was cheap new. You'd probably pick up something in Rothar or similar for €100.

that'll stop it disappearing, but not some lad damaging it just because he can

Are you angling for a position as his plus 1?

No, just jealous of his short spin in to the city.
