Some of the English sites suggest around 30mpg around town and 40mpg on motorway.

A car for wifey? Throw in a few baby seats and it's not a bad option.

Or should she be buying a 535d:P

Never mind the knockers , most have not owned one. Most who have these love them and their second hand prices show how popular they are. Petrols may be a bit juicey but they should be a lot cheaper to buy. Was at a main dealer recently and they are importing them from UK , can't get enough of the diesel ones. ;)

you can't go to far wrong with a petrol one, they're a tall car essentially...and not a bad wee suv in fairness, ladies love them.....

    What he said ^

They're not an enthusiasts car, but de wimmen tend to love them and as modern cars go, there's not a lot bad to say about them.

My wife had one, 2007 1.6 petrol. Does about 7.6l/klm. Car was comfortable. We got 2 child seats and 1 skinny child in the back. It is a Nissan engine. There was a issue with the rear shock bushes, recalled by Nissan and replaced. Her had a coil go on it, it was under warranty so I don't know what the cost was. Otherwise we had no trouble. Just thirsty, compared to my diesel.

    This is her old one.

I was thinking about the Qashqui today when cleaning the cars. While it was a nice comfortable car,I personally never found it to be solid on the road. Compared to my Mondeo or the Kuga she now drives. They fell more "glued" to the road. The Qashqui never gave me confidence in cornering, especially at speed. Maybe it was the high centre of gravity. I did find a blind spot on the A pillars to be a right pain and the rear visability was hindered by the rear pillars.

Then again, it is not a sports car and for nipping around town the steering was light and turning circle wasn't bad. Decent enough boot size, but a buggy and weeks shopping will not fit together. Actually watch out on the boot, the parcel shelf doesn't go up that high and is a hard piece, I have a few cut marks on my head for it.

Thx again for the insights. Wife does about 12,000 km in a year and not exactly a sporty driver so not too concerned with handling etc. I'll watch out for the parcel shelf though. I would love to buy a kuga but they are outside my spend range.

We have an 07 qashqai there's now 70000 got it when there was 8000. It's a grand car - safe, reasonably economical, good enough handling , nice driving position isofix for the kids etc. we've never had any issue with it. Be curious as to what you're paying for it.
