Hurrah and huzzah. Of course it could be complete crap, like plenty of other games that have been re-imagined, rebooted or what have you. But this was a favourite of mine on the Megadrive, and the launch trailer suggests that the core gameplay mechanics from the original games will be in place.

I'd be beyond happy if this lived up to the strider name but the blurb already mentions open world metroidvania style with skills/abilities, which leaves me worried, as does the 'Gritty' western look.
But its strider and so I'm hoping they do it justice.

All I ever wanted was a redrawn HD version of the original.....

Looks tasty. The main character seems to be quite small in the gameplay shots though.

I was excited when I saw it but my god does the art style look boring, especially compared to how gorgeously colourful Strider 1 and 2 were. Still the gameplay looks promising but if that art is the best the dev team can come up with than I'm not holding out hope for it.

Likes like the lovechild of Strider II and Shadow Complex, could be interesting to be fair. I've heard whispers that it's being designed by the original devs with Double Helix just doing the heavy lifting, no official word on that yet though. Either way, gona be keeping an eye on it.

There's a gameplay trailer for it out too...

Strider on the mega drive was well class. Anyone looking for a similar old school experience on PS3, check out Ninjamurai for €1.99
