The cheek of Colm Hayes

I was shocked to hear colm Hayes say on his show this morning that people who are long term on the dole need to "get off their fat arse and find a job" well at least people on the dole are only getting 5-9k depending on their age, This is a man who is earning a bloated salary of 213k of tax payers money despite never having good jnlr results on 2fm and the station losing 5 million euro year on year since 2008.

Nothing shocking about that and I agree with him and for the record his JNLR results aren't that bad. He has as many listeners as DLB for half the price. I'd say he's good value for the money.

Do you honestly care that much what one person says? And lets not forget most of RTEs income is commercially genertated.

A poor attempt at being a shock jock maybe..I hope the wind always stays at his back, and he is not one of those so called fat arsed people.

I may be wrong but I don't think Com was expressing him personal opinion. I heard him and thought he was expressing his interpretation of the new Government proposals for employment. Basically are they telling unemployed people to 'get up of their arses....'. Maybe I took him up wrong

Ah come on, losing over 50% of the audience he inherited is shockingly bad.

Not really, 50% of the annual budget comes from the licence fee.

I didn't hear the comment, but I think jos28 is almost certainly right because no RTE presenter would express a comment like that as their own opinion.

Edit: I just listened to it. He said those long term unemployed who do not want to work should get off their...etc and made it quite clear he wasn't talking about those who do want to work.

The most shocking thing about it is that you were listening to his show...

he does have a tendency to shock and annoy people sometimes like yesterday he was talking to maia dunphy about marriage, she got rather annoyed when he said "sure you are in a makey uppy marriage" just because her husband johnny vegas lives in uk and she lives here
