Jersey girl Shadine Duquemin goes in discus - I remember the day I handed her a discus for the very first time, she was nine. *Proud*

Aislinn Crossley and Siofra Cléirigh-Buttner both qualified for the 800m final! AC ran a PB of 2:05.50. The women's (and men's) 800m are rapidly becoming two of our strongest events.

Phil Healy, 2nd in her SF, qualifies for the 100m final.

It's all about qualifying. I'd imagine she's the better bet for a medal.

Seán Tobin won his 1500m semi in 3:50.31, with Shane Fitzsimons run out of it.

Ruairi Finnegan finished 3rd in a PB 3:44.60 in a much faster 2nd semi.

    Cheers ecoli

Tobin pulled out after 400m. Hope he was saving himself for the 1500m tomorrow.

Correction: Sean Tobin ran around to finish in 2:12.

Sarah Lavin won her hurdles' heat in 13.38 +1.0, just outside her PB of 13.36.

I must say, she seems to be consistently good.

Aislinn Crossey 4th in the 800 with a PB of 2.03:93. Massive PB. Síofra Cleirigh Buttner was 8th in 2.06, not sure what happened there.
Hinriksdottir won gold for Iceland after winning the youth world gold last week. Unbelievable talent.

Sean Tobin 4th in the 1500m. Too many of these 4th places!!. Good performance though and a PB 3.45:63. Ruari Finnegan 7th.

What a performance from Lavin. 13.34 and a silver medal. Plenty of good news stories from this sport this week if people are bothered to take note of them.

The Men's 4x1 team set a national junior record of 40.60, but failed to qualify for the final.

Ben Kiely finished 6th in the one lap hurdles in 51.98.

How did we do? A silver, 9 top eight placings and bunch of NJRs. 15th in the placings' table.

A fairly good showing. Some good talent coming through is good to see, especially in events that are already laden with talent, like the men's 400m Hurdles and the women's 800m. Success breeds success...

If we could just improve some of those 4th place finishes we would be laughing! :) I thought it was a very impressive showing at these championships and hopefully bodes well for the future if some of these athletes can come through to the senior ranks.
