Is Evans finished as a team lead rider now or is he just having a very bad tour following the Giro?

His TT yesterday was very poor by his usual standards, unless he is holding out for something.

why bother busting yourself for no reason.

He's going for a stage win.

What stage though? He can't climb for toffee this year*

*obviously I mean in relation to the other riders, in relation to me he's a cheetah. On a motorcycle. With wings.

There's no stages that seem to suit him in the final run though, he was really struggling on the climbs this year and was dropped to the back a couple of times. The pace this year seems to be on a different level altogether, and he just can't keep up.

Maybe he's not going for one. And he just can't be bothered punishing his body..

It looks like the age old problem of doing the Giro and Tour in the same year. I know he said the Giro was an attempt to ride back into form but he went relatively well in it, he seems to have nothing in the tank for the tour though now

Combo of all of the above i reckon, hes not recovered after a fantastic giro result, not sure he ever tried the Giro-Tour combo before so its new to him, hes certainly later in his career at this stage.

as for the pace of this year's tour? is it higher? theres certainly agressive racing every day but we would be worried if average speeds were approaching what they were in the recent 'bad old days' and i am not sure thats the case - although i think the leader was close to the record on the Ventoux ascent -

So is he finished? Id be slow to say that is the case, but given his palmares if he decided to hang the wheels up now, hes pretty much done it all at this stage.
