Is it possible to use your laptop as a wireless router.

The only access to the internet I have is through an ethernet cable.

Is it possible for me to turn my laptop into a wireless router so I could use my ipad and phone through the internet which is connected to my laptop ?

I have a 2 and a half year old HP laptop.

Also the ethernet cable is from a hotel so not sure is they will have some sort of restrictions on it.

Is this possible or is there any other ways to get wireless internet ?

Not efficiently but yes. If you travel a lot invest in an Apple Airport Express, they're pretty much designed for router-in-your-pocket functionality.

Go to Start and type in Ad Hoc. Should get you the wizard to get started

Just get this. I use one in my room where I have bad wifi signal from the router for my tablet and phone and it's great.
