Have received quotes for plumbing for a new build with UFH, one quote using qual pex, another wavin & another unipipe.

Is there any real difference between these three companies and their products.

Price wise which is the cheapest/most expensive.

Is there any difference in their performance. One plumber alleged wavin piping required special board to lay the ufH pipes. Recommended to stay clear of it. ???

Different pipe. Theres a semi ridged pipe with a alu layer. The likes of qualplex and others its a different type of plastic. Its the barrier to stop o2 getting in and hot pipe sweating out Water

Layer is called ethylene vinyl alcohol ploymer barrier.

Sorry you can buy a unipipe with alu layer but I dont think they use that for ufh

You are fast becoming to sound like somebody who was recently banned.
There is no need to be offensive.
He is just trying to help the OP. It's not all about showing how wonderful you are & how you can knock others but rather how you can help others, fellow trades or otherwise.

he told me its not metal its plastic. as if he was 100% right. his question was not advice, but to hit below the belt or putting someone in their place.

No worries but its nicer for all to keep things in perspective. It doesn't make nice reading.

Its not below the belt. All im looking for is a simple yes no answer. Will you use qualplex or not.

Way im reading it is you wont use it because qualplex has a plastic layer.

Alu is only used in the semi rigid pipes

The middle layer in qualpex is Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH).
The rest is polyethelyene crosslinked across it.

From their own spec sheet here http://www.qpl.ie/media/ie/QPL_PDFs/PEX-Technical-Literature.pdf.

    And back on topic.

I use qualpex all the time, have never seen any problem with it once its installed correctly.
It would be my favoured choice in the plastic pipe range.
Qualpex and Copper is all you need for most domestic situations for hot/cold/heating services.
