"Tailoring" your CV...

What is one's view on tailoring a CV in the form of changing the job title on your CV to be similar to what you are applying for!

For example... the job is Customer Services Representative... and my own experience is as an Inventory Controller. The jobs I did as a Inventory Controller were pretty similar in principle to the job spec of the Customer services rep and required the same skills, etc...

If I really want to standout, would this help?

No, keep the proper job title. That's not really tailoring. Tailoring your CV would involve looking for similarities between your current position and the job spec in the job description of the one you are interested in. Tailor your CV to highlight these similarities.

My CV is carefully written to be one size fits all, except the personal profile. I can rewrite that to draw parallels between me and vacancy.

Sometimes I just leave the job titles out, and just describe the responsibilites / achievements in the role.
