Has anyone seen these for sale yet or heard any rumors? Three had it on their website that it was coming soon, and now it's not there anymore. No one else is mentioning it. Can't think why, seems like a phone that would suit a lot of people.

I am going crazy waiting for this device.

I've been checking in with my local three stores and Carphone Warehouse for over a month now and up till last week they didn't have a clue but on Monday one of the three stores told me they will have it on the 20th of August. Whereas the carphone warehouse keep looking at me like I'm asking for directions to the rabbit hole. One girl had this ludicrous explanation, "we probably won't stock it because we're stocking the S4 mini and they are practically the same device" when I said no they are completely different and the active is waterproof and dust proof she replied, "Oh well we have the Xperia Z for that" I laughed and walked out.
There are a few things turning me off though,
    1. The longer it takes to come out the more it's making me want to wait for the Note 3.
    2. I can't find a drop test anywhere on the Internet, whereas there are thousands of S4 drop tests.
    3. While it is dust proof and waterproof the screen will still be prone to scratches and I can't hack those flimsy screen protectors so I'd want an otterbox, ballistic or griffin with the inbuilt protector but none of these companies will produce a case for it.
    4. The Lcd screen is a major battery hogger as opposed to the amoled on the vanilla S4.

I don't know what to do.

I can't believe there's so much delay or even disinterest in bringing it to the market. I'd have thought there would be plenty of interest in a waterproof version of the most popular Android device for no extra cost, nor even much of a weight or bulk penalty.
20th Aug is a while away yet.

The downside is that the S4 is not the most popular Android device on the market at the moment, it's certainly in major demand but the sales have been lower than expected for the device.

The Galaxy S4 is obviously extremely well known, and people already know it's out and are waiting for a 5 rumour batch to kick off. Very few people are really actively asking about the S4 active here in Ireland in comparison to other countries.

Meh, either way, it's on the top of the pile with the HTC One and iPhone 5 in terms of cream of the crop. Part of the reason for slow sales I guess are people with S3's tied to contracts and see no real need to upgrade.
I'd be in the HTC One camp personally, but seeing as I have a need for a waterproof phone, then this is the answer that I can't seem to be able to get!

    Hey there,
I just read this article and i think it's the straw that broke the camels back. First is The ridiculous waiting time for the irish release, second is the lack of accessories and cases, third is the lower quality camera, fourth is the bad battery performance and now Samsung won't stand over their "water resistant" device if it suffers water damage.
I think I'll hold on for the Note 3 or get an S4 with a Seidio Obex Case.

You do lose the 13mp camera, and the fact that the warranty doesn't cover water damage makes it a "no buy" for me.

Unless of course I was a fisherman...or a swimming instructor, I have no need for a lesser waterproof phone.

I bought one of these sim-free, and it's been spectacular. The 13mp camera not being present is a non-issue, as 13mp for a sensor that small is getting a bit silly anyway. It's proven waterproof enough for me to have it in my lifejacket when kayaking on Grade 4 Alpine waterfalls..

The recent Kitkat 4.4.2 update that is available, allows this phone to use the LTE capability of the networks i nthis country. This was missing from the previous most recent official firmware (4.2.2). Still no ANT+ functionality as far as I can see at the moment.
