Do I have more chances in finding a job in IT by actually being in Ireland than from another country? I will be relocating soon and I need a job (preferably) before I get there.

Unless your prolific in what you do eg Bill Gates; I'd say there is zero chance. Although there is plenty of IT jobs in Ireland, they're all quite specialized and require a vast amount of experience. Almost all Irish IT jobs also require a degree in computing and even microsoft and cisco certificates. So its something worth bearing in mind if your coming here looking for work in the IT industry.

They don't require Microsoft/Cisco certificates for PHP developers, so I'd say I'm good.

But thanks, I'm currently looking for jobs online.

No worries. If your a PHP developer, I'm sure you have built sites that you can use to show off your talent; which helps a great deal. But you will still usually be tested in the interview on your development strengths. So expect a technical interview which a whiteboard I would say. ;)

    I do have a portfolio.

Thank you for the whiteboard tip, I didn't know about it. :)

The Eures website would be worth investigating if you are hoping to be hired from outside the country.

Dublin's my first choice, yes, but I wouldn't turn down any other location.

    Thanks for the Eures website.
