Gonna give this a go but does anyone know if the cotter pin can be re-used or is it best to get a new one.

If a new one is required, are they generic or specific to each bike? And wheres easiest to get one?

    Thanks

I reuse mine a few times before they actually break from being bent.

    They are generic.

should see them alongside cotter pins methinks..! but yea, hardware, automotive shops etc should have em. Sometimes marine suppliers may also - not too sure where ye are, or what'd be near. Halfords have boxes of em, but ye dont want 12/15e's worth of pins (loads of em lol)

They are generally called Split pins in engineering shops or farm supply places.
Cotter pins are a wedge shaped bolt that wedges more tightly the more its tightened.

erm excuse me for being thick but why and where would a split pin or cotter pin be used in a chain adjustment?

some bikes have a castle nut on the rear axle as a safe guard against unwanted rear wheel mishaps :)

/edit pic removed, think you need to signin to kawiforums to see it
