Cardiff To Host 2014 Heineken Cup Final

So Cardiff are awarded their 7th Heineken Cup final from 19.

The same amount as Dublin (3), Edinburgh (2), Paris (2) and Rome (0) combined.

London have hosted 4 and Bordeaux 1.

Why is Cardiff always the go to city? I would have thought this would be a perfect opportunity to bring Rome into the mix, where they've sold 70,000+ for home games in the olympic stadium, or even bring Edinburgh back into the fray, where they've only hosted 2 finals to date.

I think Cardiff is a great city to host the final, probably the best city along with Dublin for the small enough size that the city gets a carnival atmosphere and the final takes over the city, with the stadium being central to the city, but the Millennium Stadium is the better stadium with far greater capacity (74,500) to the Aviva Stadium (52,000), so it probably makes financial sense, but do people think they should try and spread the games around more evenly?

Or even look to grow the game and bring Italy more into the fold to try and grow the game there by hosting a European final, or even go beyond the usual rugby strongholds and look to host it somewhere in central Europe to try and grow awareness of the game and get more attention in non-traditional areas, maybe somewhere like Barcelona, to try and grow the game?

Also, since Dublin seems to suffer from the lack of capacity as holding back from hosting finals, would Croke Park and it's 82,000 capacity be a runner to host a final at some point in the future?

This was a quick decision because France pulled out, and only Wales, England and Scotland put in bids, so Millenium was a good shout.

It's the best city and stadium experience of the whole 6N for me.

The stadium's great, but it's pretty hard to find somewhere decent to go after the games, if you're not familiar with the city.

Yeah. The bars we went to afterwards didn't have a clue how to deal with crowds, would serve one person at a time, pouring one beer at a time... Madness.
