Are some Republicans rethinking their positions on illegal immigrants, given that most are Hispanic, and the GOP did poorly (27% Hispanic vote) with this fastest growing minority in the US during 2012 general elections?

Former 2012 Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan (US House Rep for Wisconsin) may be repositioning himself to be attractive to those millions of potential voters should they receive citizenship before the next presidential elections. Even if it took longer than 2016 for millions of illegals to achieve citizenship, it may send a message to many current Hispanic American voters that Paul Ryan may be someone to represent their interests.

Given that immigration reform is one of President Obama's 2nd term goals, it is uncertain how members of the "Party of No" will respond to a Paul Ryan if he supports such reforms.

IMO, if the GOP thinks by getting behind citizenship for illegal aliens as a way to get more Hispanic votes, then they’re on a fools errand. They will become solid Democrat ("Party of Nowhere"), as is the case with many in the black community, by being duped into thinking the Democratic party cares for them, all the while kept at lower levels of society by making so many dependent upon the largeness of the Government to the point that they are no longer capable nor interested in self support.

The GOP are sorely missing a golden opportunity. Hispanics are largely catholic and socially conservative. They need to plug into that.

I think it would definitely help to some degree, but unfortunately I believe when it comes down to pulling that lever, the majority vote by their pocketbooks, or lack thereof.
