Hi. Hoping someone can help me!

I was claiming jb from May 2012 to Sept 2012. Went on fAS course to train level 5 healthcare assistant from Sept 2012 to April 2012. I knew when I finished the course that I woukd be goingtto university in sept 2013 to study nursing.

When I finished my fas course I was offered Summer work in a nursimy home from end April to August which I took and am currently working.

I now gear that my summer contract might make me ineligable for BTEA. I will be signing on againin August so I will be claiming directly before commencing course but I need to know am I immediately excluded because of my summer job? There is a part on welfare.ie that says 'time in short-term employment' does not exclude you. However I cannot find out what exactly is 'short tetm employment'.

I'm now kicking myself for starting the job becwise otherwise there would not be this issue!!

    Can someone help or advise?

my understanding is if you are on jsa immediately before starting in college then you will be ok, provided you have been unemployed for 234 days but seeing as you were already in receipt of btea then you should be ok, hope it works out for you, by the way I found the btea people in carrick on Shannon very helpful, no waiting times on phone and got through to somebody straight away so maybe try them to find out for sure
