Late payment from SUSI what to do...

I've just applied to SUSI for the first time and am preparing myself for a long wait before I hear anything. I'm saving as much as I can in the old credit union in the meantime. I'm not looking for maintenance only the fees. Do SUSI pay that directly to the college? What happens if they are late with them and I get the money together to pay the fees (unlikely!)? Do they reimburse me or do they just deal directly with the college?

My first year of college I paid the fees and they refunded me to my bank account by Christmas once they got confirmation that my grant application was accepted. The college gets the fees paid directly to them.

This wasn't with SUSI though but I don't see why it would be any different. If you have confirmation that you're getting a grant, the college might accept that and you won't have to pay the fees.

Some places will accept that they have to wait on SUSI but not all. Some were really tough on students and demanded money paid. Maybe take a look on the threads specific to the uni you have applied to and see what old threads say. Last year in UCD they were good about waiting on SUSI, but some of the library services got blocked (though later were released). Others had it much worse.
