    Hi,
I want to plaster / render wall at end of garden so that I can paint it. At the moment it is just 2M of cavity brick. One plasterer suggested a coat of PU stick or something to scrub and then plaster it. Another two coats of sand cement. Which do you think is better? Why?

    Thanks.

Scud coat it first, that will give your plaster a better key, it will also be easier to apply the first coat.

Regardless of how you do it, make sure the blocks/bricks are clean. Give a splatter coat of 3:1 (washed sand:cement). Following day scratch coat of 7:2 plus some water-proofer. A week later float it out with 4:1 plus waterproofer and rub up.
