He can claim a far as I know but the fis is deemed means, so they just use the figure of your wages and fis added together and reduce his jsa under the means rules.

Is there a certain formula to calculate what she'd get?

Yes and it is very confusing, there is a really good post here that makes it easy, but I can't find it.

I am on jsa and husband working so he applied for fis and we were told we would have to close the jsa to get fis payment you can't get both just whichever one is more beneficial to your family.

That must be because you were over the limit when including your jsa maybe?

But the person not getting the fis is allowed to get jsa because as i stated above i was getting it

You cannot get FIS if you are on one of the following schemes or social welfare payments:

•Community Employment Scheme, Rural Social Scheme, the TÚS scheme or JobBridge.
    •Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance
•State Pension (Transition) or Pre-Retirement Allowance

Your spouse, civil partner or cohabitant can claim FIS while you are getting one of these payments. However an Increase for a Qualified Adult (IQA) will no longer be paid and your social welfare payment will be assessed as income for their FIS payment. Any Increase for a Qualified Child will be affected. Similarly if your spouse, civil partner or cohabitant is getting one of these payments, you can qualify for FIS but an IQA will no longer be paid for you

I was told something similar, but it was my choice whether we abandoned his claim and went with FIS or not. In our case it was more beneficial to stay on JAS / BTEA.

    Maybe it was JSB?

Hi, my husband gets FIS for our family (couple and 3 kids). I also get a jobseekers allowance payment. I want to come off jobseekers as i am now pregnant and will not be available and actively seeking work, so i feel its only right i do this. I was wondering if and when i do stop my jobseekers payment, can my husband get our weekly FIS payment increased accordingly as we would be earning less? Our renewal date is not for 6 months. what would we have to do to get a family income supplement increase?
