Okay folks, I'm hoping its okay for me to post this here and that some of you may want some of the bits and pieces I'm selling:

Rancilio Silvia - Plus all the parts mentioned in the advert. I have a brand new rubber gasket and shower screen which I'd bought off happy donkey but never fitted. It doesn't need the gasket yet - maybe another 12 mths of use and it could be replaced. Last night I fitted the new Chrome Cover/Screen as my old one was peeling. Anyway it was a well maintained machine and I think including all the accessories is a good deal at that price.

    Naked / Bottomless Portafilter

My much loved Reg Barber Tamper (I think I'll miss this the most)

    A 18g Ridgeless VST Basket

    Stainless Steel Base

    Kone Filter

    Happy Shopping :P

Best of luck with your sale.

I may take a look at the base unit.

How did you go about adjusting the pressure on the Silvia and it make much difference?

It honestly makes a huge difference as the factory setting with the Silvia is around 10 bar. Reducing the pressure will reduce bitterness and aid you get more of the flavour out of the bean. Adjusting the OPV itself is simple enough:
    http://www.home-barista.com/tips/adjusting-rancilio-silvia-v3-opv-t11158.html

but measuring the actual pressure is done one of two ways:
    1. using a pressure gauge which you attach to the portafilter. There was one floating around these parts a few years back - GRINDER*MAN was the owner - that hardest part of this technique was getting the spout off the portafilter

    2. run-off method: slightly trickier but worth a shot once if you already own a a blind filter for backflushing: http://www.home-barista.com/espresso-machines/how-do-i-check-brew-pressure-without-gauge-t2024.html

Final Bump for the last pieces of my old set-up:

    Stainless Steel Base

    Kone Filter [/QUOTE]

I'll also be putting up my Malkonig Vario in a few weeks once I've settled on a new grinder. Its been serviced a few times by Marco (most recently with new Burrs, Belt and Pulley at a cost of €150). I'd got an extended warranty of 6 mths on it back in Jan from Marco but I guess thats out of date now. I'd be looking for €250 for it in case any of ye are interested.
