OK guys, taking a leaf out of Style Forum's "what you are wearing today" thread, how about we have our own, dedicated to our own Suited Up look.

Suits, shoes, shirts, ties, pocket squares - any combination is good, all together if possible!

I'll get things rolling with this:
    500x1000px-LL-7123d5ca_photo.jpeg

    500x1000px-LL-b45ccda6_photo1.jpeg

    Suit is Collezione M&S
    Tie Richard James Savile Row
    Shirt Louis Copeland
    Linen PS
    Cuff links Paul Smith
    (unseen) Burgundy Grenson brogues

I have 2 suits that are pretty *meh* to me at this stage. Regular fit leg etc. Your standard suit.
I'm looking for something a bit sharper though. Jeans wise, I wear straight leg, slim fit (but not skinny skinny tight jeans). They wouldn't be stuck to me.
Would be nice to get a suit with a straight leg fit as opposed to a regular.
I don't wear suits much. Could I just rent one for a wedding? A smart suit?
Or should I look at it as an investment.

Love to post my suits here, but they get rare use. Dont wear them to work. Perhaps next wedding in a few weeks.

Nice suit man, Tie wouldnt be for me i think its too worn looking for my tastes ( i realise thats the look)

Suits don't have to be that expensive - and some inexpensive ones are really good. That suit I'm wearing in that picture is Marks & Spencer's and cost the grand total of €267. And its great. Its the Collezione range, which is pretty fitted, and the trousers are nice and snug too. :-)

Every man should have at least ONE smart suit in his wardrobe - even if he doesn't wear one.

Bought off the rack I presume? I'll check them out..
Would like to get a suit I could wear with light brown brogues

Yeah off the rack. And what I would do is take it to an alterations place and get them to take in the jacket, adjust the trousers / cuffs so things aren't too short / long.

Light brown, as in tan? They do have a nice blue suit, well its navy I guess but its a lighter shade, would look nice with tan shoes. If you are going for light brown, then go for lighter colours, like blue or grey suits. If you have darker brown shoes, then navy suits would be the way to go. Avoid black suits.

Yeah, they're lighter brown brogues. Got them in Schuh.

Similar to these but with slightly different soles - http://www.schuh.co.uk/images/product/310481/3104816220M1_exlg.jpg

Navy suit, definitely. Grey too, once its not too light a grey.

I have a dark grey one / charcoal. It's a regular leg. I think a suit with a straight or slimmer leg would go great with the brogues. A 3 piece one would look "awesome". Not to hijack the original intention of this thread, but any links to a not too expensive smart suit for brown shoes would be great!

That's the M&S suit I was talking about. You can't go wrong really; well that suit really suits my shape, its slim fitting and nicely made. One tip I found was in those kind of "off the rack" shops, buy the jacket a size down. So i'm around a 41 but the jacket is a 40, just clings that little bit more.

That colour would defo suit brown brogues.

Oh and maybe the original intention of this thread isn't gonna work, maybe it should just be a men's suits megathread! :)

I think that's a good idea. This forum lacks the traffic for a general WAYWRN thread*, let alone a CBD one or Friday challenge!

*I'm aware there is one stickied but I meant a thread where it is predominantly more formal outfits i.e. suits.

Just got this Duchamp tie yesterday. Was going to wear this outfit to a wedding in Spain but I will probably jazz it up with a little colour in the pocket square...

    Any opinions on this suit:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Calvin-Klein-Slim-Piece-Plain/dp/B00BX8ZLFW/ref=sr_1_2?s=clothing&ie=UTF8&qid=1375194906&sr=1-2

Seems a pretty good deal, do Calvin Klein suits have a decent rep?

Looks OK, jacket seems a little short for my tastes but lots of more "fashion" suits are shorter.

Its pretty cheap alright - wonder if there's a reason for that?

what way do you read the jacket sizes?
is sht, med & lg equal to short, medium & long

    what do they mean?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,639 ✭✭✭Sugar Free

    38 - 40 - 42 etc. is the chest size.

Short, medium and long refer to the length of the jacket, usually from the base of the jackets collar to the hem at the bottom.

The size guide on M&S.ie shows the measurements.
