New build suggestions

Hi all,
I'm looking to start a new build and am in need of recommendations for a CPU and Motherboard.
I was thinking about purchasing this CPU: AMD FX-6300
A friend of mine suggested it to me, it seems to be best for the price of £90.
I am also thinking of ordering this Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3
The components ill be using from my previous build are as follows:
nVidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti Graphics card
OCZ 600w Modular PSU
Corsair Vengeance 8gb Ram (2 Sticks of 4gb each)
Western Digital 1TB HDD

Could you please tell me if the CPU and Motherboard I have linked are good for gaming, It's what the PC will mainly be used for.
Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated, but I am trying to keep it as cheap as possible so please take that into consideration.

Do you require a motherboard that supports sli or crossfire?
The one you linked supports it so you could change to a board that doesnt and save some money there.
Crossfire/Sli are dual GPU setups so if you were only planning on only using the one GPU a cheaper board would be fine.

Other than that looks good,the processor would also benefit from an aftermarket cpu cooler for overclocking so you could get the most from it.

If the answer to EoinHef's sli/crossfire question is yes, I see a good price on the MSI 990XA-GD55 at the moment. It would support SLI/Crossfire and heavy overclocking of 8-Core CPUs and is just €10 more.

Otherwise the Extreme3 would be just fine for a gaming rig, it will be perfectly good for overclocking the 6-core FX6300 as well.
