What exactly will i have to pay?

    Ok so my brain is bursting with all this Grant and Fees stuff. Can someone just tell me in plain terms - how much hard earnt cash will i have to payout for my daughters college fees.

    She is hoping to start in UCD in Sept age 18. Just got word today that we qualify for the Susi Grant. So do we still have to pay the student contribution of €2708 or does Susi pay that. And what else will we pay that susi wont. Thks

    Depends on the SUSI grant you are getting. A Fees only grant will cover the €2500. The remaining amount of €208 is the Student Levy, which you will have to pay. The other SUSI grant is the maintenance grant and usually covers the Fees anyway.

    Also, this is all assuming your daughter is an Irish citizen, lived here for 3 of the last 5 years and has never been to 3rd level before.

    SUSI pays student contribution of 2500
    You pay the 208
    SUSI pays maintenance (depending on the rate you were awarded)

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me?
