If past sales are anything to go by my local builders merchants will still be cheaper.

Homebase are now in serious trouble.

They are to possibly close 3 stores,Fonthill,Carlow and Castlebar.

Possibly some bargains to be had in these stores,in order to get rid of stock.

Don't go rushing to the stores, yet , looking for bargains.
The Examiner process is a measure, to give protection from Creditors for 100 days, and to allow Landlords, consider their position regarding existing lease's

It's a way of getting the Co into a stronger position by cutting out the hopeless stores, and reducing the Rent is remainder

In the meantime it's business as usual, don't expect any Sales till the Examinership is over

Even then, this only affects certain stores, so they will most likely move stock to the remaining stores.

That said, it is in slightly poor taste to post about bargains to be had when there are jobs on the line.

Homebase were always too dear. Only good for DIYers or if you're stuck after hours/weekends.

Id say a certain other DIY store chain could be heading that way very soon too.

Also good for large plant pots, when they have 20% off them on various weekends.:)

Got some nice ones in Homebase a few months back, with 50% off.

    Happy Days.:)
