So, we need to purchase a car following an accident, any recommendations or advise greatly appreciated. Links to sales also welcome.
    Some background info:

Travel to work is approx 500km per week. Would it be better to consider a diesel for fuel efficiency? To keep insurance costs down, we were thinking a 1.4 litre?
Budget about 6000 to 7000 euro.
Year from 2006 upwards, newer the better.
    Least mileage the better
Isofix child seat fittings required (this seems to rule out most older Ford models)
Preferably hatchback as boot needed for buggy, bikes, shopping, trips to recycle centre etc

We have had good experiences with Toyotas so were considering a corolla, auris or maybe avensis but are open to other brands also.
We have been checking the usual selling sites but a large number of cars are uk imports. What are the drawbacks of these cars? Are we better to stick to Irish cars?

    Many thanks in advance :)
