Hi there I would appreciate any suggestion I'm looking for a venue to have minimum 200 guests for my wedding late Summer 2014. I would love a marquee ideally within a 2 hour drive of Dublin. My problem is most places don't fit that many or charge a huge rental fee to add a larger marquee. I'm open to country houses or hotels that don't have that corporate or horrible function room look to it!

Have a look at Mount Druid in Co. Westmeath maybe - a bit offbeat, they do barn weddings/glamping.

    Hi
I am also looking for a marquee venue and just went to see this place AnnaCarriga in Killaloe at the weekend - I absolutely love it- a little bit pricey but so different from hotels - www.annacarriga.com.

Kaki -Mount Druid it is on my list to view.
Tshanx42 I love the look of annacarriga I think its just that bit to far away from Dublin. But totally the vibe we'd be after.
If anyone has any other suggestions Id be eternally grateful. :)

Hi MountainGirl - not that far - its only 1 and a 1/2 hours from Dublin - I am in same boat and went to see it when I was at home visiting my Mum. Best of Luck though - I am sure you will have a great day.

Check out Lisnavagh House in Co. Carlow- they put a marquee in the grounds of a gorgeous house, they do the drinks reception part in the old house.

    Gorgeous.

Castle Leslie (Glaslough Co Monaghan) have a permanent marque structure for their wedding venue. Lovely grounds to the hotel and castle.

Not sure it would hold 200 though. We had 140 when we got married there.
Drinks reception is best on the lawn if the weather permits. Trudder and Ballybeg are other marquee venues nearby but again not sure if 200 would fit.

Yeah true, I know different venues hire in different size marquees but I dunno what Lisnavagh's policy is.

They now have their own marquee there so its afixed size. I think using long tables instead of round is a way of fitting more people into a room and these are the types of venues where people will congregate in different areas so that the marquee isnt stuffed after the meal. When we had our wedding in Lisnavagh various cousins and friends ended up having a sing song at the piano in the house during the bands set when it wasnt their thing.

We got married in AnnaCarriga in June, completely unique and I guarantee everyone will love it. Owners are so helpful and accommodating, and the venue is so adaptable to make the day completely unique and personal. Go for it. :)

The marquee in Mount Juliet in Killenny? An hour drive from Dublin via mostly motorway.
