Sky box as a free sat receiver

    Hi, is it possible to use my parents old sky box as a free to air receiver (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, E4 etc). I don't have a sky card and as it is a Sky plus box would like to record the free channels e.g. BBC etc.

    Yes an old box will give you all the FTA channels,no need for a card.
    The box will default to the London version of the EPG.

    Your welcome,no a sky box will not record without a subscription although there are FTA receivers available that will record.

    Is it a sky plus box (the white one) or a Sky+HD box (black/grey one)?
    If its the latter, it will not revert to the UK EPG and you will need to order an FTV card from Setanta (for free) under the BAI scheme to get BBC on 101 etc.
