    18. What happens if I pass the test?

When you return to the test centre, the tester will inform you that you have passed. He or she will issue you with a Certificate of Competency, valid for two years. At any time after receiving your Certificate of Competency, you may apply for your full licence at your local Motor Tax Office.

A Certificate of Competency is not a driving licence and cannot be used as a substitute for a driving licence. You are not considered to be a fully licenced driver until you have your full licence in your physical possession. Until that point, you should continue to display L-plates, drive with an accompanying driver, and observe the other rules and restrictions that apply to learner drivers.

To be honest, if you were stopped, I'd say a passport and the Certificate of Competency would be adequate for any guard.

so what about the learners permit

See, when you send for your full license, you'll be giving the learner's permit away.
Now that I think of it, you'll also be giving the Certificate away....

Maybe you should just apply for the license ASAP and avoid driving until it arrives.

Yeah it reads to me like the OP has passed their theory and not the actual test.

OP, you'll have to hold your horses a bit there! You are not entitled to be out on the road just yet.
Send away for your provisional licence first. You'll need the application, money, passport pics, I.D and an eye test. Go to the tax office or post it away.
When your licence arrives, apply for insurance on your car. You can start taking your 12 EDT lessons in your instructors car or wait for the insurance on your own car and go out with them then.
At no point should you be driving on your own.
Then 6 months time, you can take your test.
