3 in a row is impressive not to mention a 65 gross

Is 65 course record for Lee Valley?

He must have been minding the old handicap ;)

Is that 3 in a row all off scratch?

Well done great to see a low handicapper win. Plus u have none of the bitch1ng that u would have if a 12 handicapper had done it 3 years in a row. Great for it not to be a post about a bandit.

Lee valley has changed greatly since Freddie, old record was my 67 but I'm delighted to see it beaten in this instance!

Super shooting, well done Maclock, was supposed to be playing Lee Valley this evening but unfortunately can't make it out. Would imagine the course is pristine atm!

Did Lee Valley have senior scratch cup this year?

Definitely a bandit - he's gone down more than 2 shots since the summer started

Is it wrong if i never play again but still tell whoever listens that i play off 0?:p

He must be +1 now after shooting that 65...

lets see him win next year playing off +3

2 more years you might have 5 lamps...

You know what to do then ;););)

    Maclock clearly loves the lamp!

Congrats to Macklock, fantastic round. Played down there for two days only a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I was impressed by the course. I couldn't imagine anybody shooting 65 around there with the greens.

Thanks again for all the posts.
I haven't been able to reply to them all individually as I've been very busy all day with public appearances etc. YA RIGHT.
I know I'm a bit biased but the course is in great nic and so it should be with the interpros being on there next week. The greens weren't very fast as they couldn't cut them as low as planned in case they burnt a bit. Plans are to have them nice and fast for next week I'm told. It'll be nice to see most of the top players in the country playing there.

Well done and fantastic achievement, that should really get you onto the interprovincial team instead of some of the blow ins that seem to be representing some of the provinces!! ;-)

It's never disappointing to win a captains prize, immaterial of the prize.

The committee of this club are in my opinion quite forward thinking in the opting for a standard Captains prize, a club of which I am a member has been giving the same prize for 15 years and only on 1 occasion has it been won by the same person, by the way it is an inscribed silver salver.

This put's this remarkable achievment on an even higher pedestal. Well Done indeed young man,

I think that the current Hon Sec of the GUI has won 5 Captains prizes in his club over the years and the prize was a gold medal afaik.

The idea of the same prize is that it reduces the competition for outdoing the preceding captain and in helps standardise the costs incured by an individual who opts to take on the position of Captain.

This "blow in" has lived in Cork since 2006, and the other "blow in" you refer to is a Kerry born chap that chose his born province. You might read the conditions of the championship to make yourself familiar with eligibility to play.

It was meant tongue in cheek and wasn't meant to offend. I'm well aware of the eligibility criteria and have no issues with it and don't disagree with it.

It was an attempt at humour, apologies if you didn't take it that way and best of luck next week.

I think it makes the prize a lot more exclusive and wished a lot more clubs were the same. Some achievement, gonna stand a long time before that's bettered.

Why would it be exclusive, if it is the same thing every year, I think it is nice where the captain can put there own imagination in to the prize, let the valuation be fixed fine

Danger there is that some people have atrocious or lets just say "different" tastes. I've seen some awful prizes handed out...

    like lamps....

well I have one of these for first
    953_000_0322_l3_3.jpg

and then its baby brother the following year for 3rd...

    953_000_0222_l2_3.jpg

The big guy is proudly on display in the parents house, junior is still in a box in the attic!

Got a nice silver "claret" jug style a few years ago, small, classy, >100 years old and to my mind, a nice 1st prize.
I also like the idea of a special medal.

    Pffftt greebo....

Come back when you have 3 firsts in a row.

Stop hijacking the main mans thread ;)
