Survey for apartment?

    Hi everyone,
We are thinking about buying an apartment in an established well-run apartment block.
Is it usual to get any kind of survey done in this case or should we just do our own 'snag list', ie check that electrics, heating, plumbing are all working (insofar as we can ascertain) before proceeding with the sale?
Would welcome advice from anyone who has bought a second-hand apartment. Thanks.

Unless you have a construction qualification and several years experience, it would be much better to spend a few hundred euros, rather than being lumped with a lemon that will cost you several hundred thousand euros over the next thirty years.
