Broadband Speed dropped

I am a loyal Eircom customer for the past 3 years now. I have the 8MB broadband deal and recently my broadband has gotten so slow I used speedtest.net to check it. I am receiving a miserable 0.61MB when in truth I should be receiving 8MB(I used to get 7-7.5MB on speedtest previously). I was wondering could there be a common explanation or will I have to call to try resolve this problem?

Something is restricting your speeds, was the test ran over wireless or with eth cable?

go to http://192.168.1.254 and post a screenshot of the DSL info, there might be an issue with the line, modem or filters.

The test was run by wireless but I use Cat5 ETH cable on my desktop and been receiving similar from that recently. I plugged out modem, reset it, checked all connections and that hasnt had any effect.

That looks fine, there should be no speed issues there, if a reset didn't help, maybe it could be the modem, the netopia's are very old now could be going faulty. modem is syncing correctly, so there is no line or filter issues.

Disable the wireless and run the speedtest again with the eth cable, so your computer is the only device using the broadband. If still slow you will probably need a new modem.

    Hi Recurve360

Feel free to PM me your eircom account details and I'll look into this and try to establish what the issue may be.
