Anyone have an experience with getting a well bored in the Kiltale/Dunsany/Kilmessan area in the recent past.

I have a shallow well in the house since I moved in last year. Its very slow to replenish itself, and in this weather, we are really working hard to ration our water. I think I'm going to bite the bullet, and go with a bored well, just so I don't have to worry about the water any more.

I know every site is different, but may be some idea of costs, depth, and what types of treatment you have to do?

You be glad to hear that you that are grants available (75% of the cost- http://www.meath.ie/CountyCouncil/WaterServices/WellGrants/).

I managed to get one a few years back. I used Mckenna in Navan & his brother done the water treatment and pump.

Cheers. Unfortunately the grant is up to a max of just over 2K, so if the well cost 10K, I'd still need to come up with 8k. I have no reason to believe it will cost that much, but you'd never know - every site is different.

Out of interest, how deep did your well go, and can you recall the costs at all? (I'm not sure if your allowed tell me the cost - perhaps a PM)
