I've seen some sites offering kayak and boat tours of the harbour, but are there any companies that just rent kayaks or canoes? How much would they be for a day?

There is this one atlantic sea kayak they bring you along the harbour, but tis kinda more or less just getting your own one really. im sure they would tell you a little about the harbour but nothing that would wow you..nice trips other than that

Great idea, its not like the coast guard and life boats have anything better to do than rescue clowns who take the risk in unsafe vesssls like that.
As was said elsewhere, its only good for filling with water and letting kids paddle in it.

Yeah true, wouldn't go near one of those on anything with a currant. Does anywhere rent kayaks though? I row the river often in currachs so I'm comfortable enough but would love to rent a couple of kayaks for the day

I saw a new place called Neptune Kayak has opened on Whitegate Road in Rostellen, and they rent kayaks (http://neptunekayak.com/). They might be a bit far out though, depending.
