    Hi
I currently have a Nikon d90 but am hoping to purchase a Nikon compact just for handiness to have in handbag all the time.
Can anyone recommend the best nikon compact ( really like Nikon). I would consider another brand if it was highly recommended. Photo quality would be of importance.
    Budget would be €150
    Thanks in advance

Your budget will only get you a ho-hum compact and it's not an area I have any interest in so can't recommend anything specific. I suspect there isn't a lot between them. Panasonic Lumix cameras have a better reputation in the compact camera segment than Nikon.

If you increased your budget to €200-240, you could get into the bottom end of the so called enthusiast compact market with a superseeded, but still available model, which would be a step up in abilities and IQ. Cameras like the Oplympus XZ-1 and Panasonic LX3 are still available on amazon UK.

But in this day and age, the compact camera market is dying rapidly in favour of phones with decent cameras.

I personally would be looking at a Nokia 1020, 820, or 920 if I were after a tote everywhere camera. They do cost more than your budget but are more portable and have 'other' uses and the cameras are arguably better than the vast majority of dedicated compact cameras.
