Myself and two friends are going to Thailand august 7th and will be traveling around southeast asia for 4 or 5 months. We have no flight booked to leave as we want to see how long the money lasts.
Is it possible to get a free 30 visa on arrival if we dont have proof wer leaving the country. Or do we need to buy one before we go i seem to be told different things by different people and cant get through to thai embassy, its very frustrating and would love some advice. Thanks

do you not have any onward flights booked yet?
I don't think you get a visa on arrival anymore. We didn't need any visa entering Thailand, Europeans (http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/55) get a 30 day visa exemption nowadays. The requirement about the exemption is that you have funds of at least 10,000 Baht and have proof of onward travel.
They simply stamped our passports and no one asked about return tickets or onward travel. Maybe you'll get lucky too but I'd be careful you don't get denied entry based on that...
