Cracks in Windscreen - safe to drive?

I had a chip repaired in my windscreen a few months ago (Oct/Nov 2012). Anyway, it ended up cracking on Monday, so I booked it in to get a replacement windscreen using car insurance for Tuesday.

Problem occured when people fitting new windscreen broke it while fitting it! They said they can't change it for at least a week because the glue has to dry. Cracks have just be getting bigger over past couple of days. They are on the drivers side. 4 large cracks.

I got a letter from them saying they broke it while it was being replaced. I also contacted insurance to tell them to only pay for one claim.

Should it be safe to drive? What about if I'm stopped by Gardaí?

    Thanks.

Put it this way, it'd fail an nct. Visibility and strength are affected.

Would I drive it on till Tuesday? Probably. But I wouldn't be making any unnecessary journies.

Original post was a little unclear. It won't be replaced until sometime next week, since it was broke Tuesday this week, during installation of new one.

Thanks, I'll avoid all unnecessary driving.

it won't be any problem to drive it ; with a laminated windscreen ,it won't be falling out or in or whatever...think two panes of glass bonded together with a sheet of plastic between, no doubt only one sheet is actually cracked.Oviosly if in some way it blocks you vision thats another matter, but I don't think that's likely

Why couldn't the pull that damaged one out while the glue was still setting? In this heat the glue should be well set by now, they should be calling to your house / job to replace it.

I don't know. They should be out early this week to replace it.

They probably didnt pull it out because they didn't have another in stock.
