So last night was Joan Lea's last show and next week she's being replaced by Muireann O Connell although not sure if this is a longterm solution. Personally I think there's too much talk after 9pm in Dublin, with 98, 104 and 4FM all having talk shows. I think 98fm should just go with music with till midnight as the main competition at 104 has 45k listeners which according to the article on radionation is 9 times what Joan Lea had. Kennedy has a massive listenership built up over years and I think its pointless trying to compete with it.

I think playing music until 12 would be pointless, they did it before and it was no better and they have music after 12 too. Unless they can do something like Ray and JP did on Today FM at night many years ago or what Brian and Dara do Spin, have some music, have some interaction have some fun.

They have the potential to get a decent listenership with them being a big station but need a decent presenter and producer and some publicity for a talk show, surprised they didn't go for Niall Boylan, dunno what the situation with him and and the station is but it's a long time since he left and was a good host there.

I also think they need to look at the lead into the show, a pre-recorded show which is aimed at no one in particular isn't exactly a forward sell for the following show which is centered around listener interaction. The station is heavily dependent on Dermot and Dave and will be on Ray Foley and JP soon so they could do with creating something interesting at night.

I see your point but then you are talking about 98fm having personality radio 6-10 am with foley and co, again 3 - 7pm with Dermot and Dave and again from at least 9pm ... Too much personality and not enough emphasis on music I think. So with the talk show format being dominated by 104 and them already having spades of interaction on the station already i think their only option is music.

Two ad free hours in their schedule and music just from 10-3, it's not exactly stuck for music. They probably need the talk show to get the speech percentage up anyway.

Have to say, she always grated on me. Her voice and presenting style were a complete turnoff.

Article on Radionation.ie says she could be moving to a breakfast show in Dublin as a co-host.... Im kind of stuck on this one? Q102 maybe?

Ah just realised I quoted the wrong post....

She's probably off to 4fm with the rest of the ex 98fm staff. She would be no addition to Q102. If they are looking for a female voice to work with Scott Williams what's wrong with Debbie Allen?

Yes it has 4fm written all over it, that's of course if she goes anywhere. Q have their own dull presenters they don't need another. Can't see Scott lasting too much longer in breakfast either mind you.
