I have a keenan feeder not a bale handler one. My friend loaned to me last spring to feed soy hulls. I will need to feed bales on outfarm next week. Will it be able to manage it.
I was planning to break them up with the loader before loading them, all siage bales are from paddocks with covers of <1500 or less so short stuff not chopped though.

I have old Keenan 100 no prob handling well chopped short bales
I used to take plastic off pick bale up with grab
    it would spilt in half
hold over feeder go up ladder cut net and tie it onto grab then drop half bale in then start feeder

Now put long stuff in and you will need the cider

On the phone to Moore Park now, have given delaval's name.

Am enquiring whether they have any recent trials to tell me whether the 45 or 90 degree electronic cow scratcher is the better choice.

delboy`s declaration of regret at having never installed ACR`S is surely only a matter of hours away... maybe not until another of his overmilked maids blocks the milk filter...:D:D... (sorry old boy)

I know a few lads with keenan feeders (all with blades) managing to feed bales.
The more broken up the are ( you can't just dump bale in ) the better - even a quarter a bale at a time might be two much
I have one of the newer ones with the small auger (with bale handler) and if I don't chop the bales enough (especially really dry ones )I would only half open the door while full and 3/4 open when nearly empty.
The older feeders with the bigger augers IMO is much better at emptying dry bales

My cows are eating bales silage but I'm not putting it through a diet feeder..

Give in the bales with a grab and use the Keenan to store waste plastic.
