Recommend Portable Radio PLease

Can anyone recommend a fairly decent radio to be used when walking?
One that will hold reception ... current one loses the stations once we hit a certain village (no mobile phone reception there either) .... one I had before didn't do this but it was old and died.

try searching amazon and look at the reviews. this one well recommended. not many people just buy radios anymore as people buy portable audio for the mp3 playback more than the radio so less likely to get opinion here. although will agree that if you need good radio reception then buy a dedicated radio unit as radio reception on mp3 players is typically not too good.

Just want something that does what it says on the tin. Cheaper would be better but don't want to be sorry I didn't spend a bit more and get something that is better either iykwim ... Am kind of edging towards the Roberts one??

no presets on those first 2 radios. tuning around the analogue band every time you want to change station is a bit too retro imo.

last one is ok maybe but the sony one linked also has LW, even if that's used less these days.

FM radio seems to be hit and miss these days. My Sansa Clip+ MP3 player has brutal reception. I have a cheap amsung E222 phone and its surprisingly good. My old Sony W810i had useful controls for music and radio even the the keypad is locked, but this E222 you can do nothing unless the keypad is unlocked. All smart phones I've tried are the same with no lock screen radio controls. MP3 controls maybe, but not the radio.

I have a Sony Walkman X1050 with a radio and thats very good.

Or maybe a MP3 with built in radio which may be better value and you could have music on it for when the FM reception is bad.
