    I saw a recumbent tandem on the Ring of Kerry cycle last week.

    Curious looking contraption.

    Were they "in-line" or "2 abreast"? - may make overtaking another one a bit of a challenge under Irish traffic laws if the latter;)

    I don't believe it is possible to buy a side-by-side recumbent bicycle.

    The "sociables" as they're apparently nicknamed are recumbent trikes.

    There is, however, a side-by-side non-recumbent bicycle.

    I've seen a few around Zurich but they are more of a trike and have electrics and a fully enclosed cabin. I thought they were called twingo but google hasn't helped. I'll look closer next time I see one
