Named policy holder experience

I recently sold my car due to the fact I live mainly abroad but I spend around 10 weeks of the year here in Ireland.

Between the road tax, insurance, wear and tear, it just wasn't worth keeping.

Now that my insurance policy is cancelled, is there a time limit on how long my No Claims policy holder experience is valid for?

I have 10 years built up. I don't want to try getting insurance in two years and be told it'll be €2000!

    Any info appreciated.

    Regards.

Ring your insurance company and they'll tell you. It's usually a two year period of non-use before it expires.

Yes the industry norm is two years but you would really need to at least ring your own Insurer to see how long your No Claim Discount will last for as presumably they will be the first you try for a quote when you decide to get insurance again.

Ok. Thanks to the 2 of you. I will phone them to confirm but I just wanted to get an idea first before they give me their answer.

    Cheers.
