Remove Tiles / Put down TImber myself

    Hello everyone

I am new to the forum and would be appreciative of any help.

I am getting an extension built on to my house - an extra room at back of kitchen. There will be double doors between the rooms but i want the same floor in both rooms (laminate timber)

I currently have very poorly laid porcelain tiles in my kitchen so they have to come out. OF course the floor is my kitchen was never levelled before the tiles were put down

ANyway is it an easy job to take up the tiles (concrete floor) - remove skirting board - lay timber floors in kitchen and new room and put skirting down then .

Or am i crazy and should i just get the builder who is building the extra room to do it all ??

I mean what would i save by doing this myself - kitchen is about 10 x 15 feet and new room will be 20 x 14 feet

It's not a job to take on if you're not confident. you will have to create levels and work to them. On the other hand it's not beyond a good diyer.
I wouldn't get the builder either unless he's a Carpenter by trade.

You could take the Skirting off and the tiles up yourself or get the builder to do it for you.
Make sure to wear Goggles and gloves as tile splinters are lethal.
You could even get the Builder to level the floor for you.
Then get a good Carpenter to lay the floor or you. If you do decide to do it yourself don't forget to leave 10 to 12 mm for expansion. This is then covered by 18mm Skirting.

Get the builder to do it, every man to his own and surly he has a carpenter on site
