Snow foam lance with low water pressure?

    Just wondering.
I have recently bought a second lance as I felt my old one had it.
Not really getting any foam worth talking about. If I twist the mixer ( top control ) to give maximum foam it just dribbles out of the lance.

Would low water pressure cause this?

Yeah - low water pressure could, but your power washer would probably be giving issues too - intermittently cutting out.

Have you dismantled it an check the gauze and any of the small holes throughout the fitting for partial blockages?

Sorry for a hijack vectra, but just curious - any snow foam options for petrol powerwashers?

Do you mean fittings for petrol washers?

The fittings for various power washer makers screws out handy enough, and the proper fitting can be sourced...a bit of PTFE tape and screw the new fitting in....bingo!

Its just the suppliers offer the best selling fittings; ie: the domestic power washers!

I do indeed. Someone in the house insists that all things possible must be petrol powered... so no nilfisks or karchers for me!

Must take a pic of the fitting actually, will probably help :)

Sure my neighbour has his power hose running off the PTO shaft of the tractor.
3.9 litre engine might be overkill for washing the car!

I only bought this one recently.
I have used it no more than 8-10 times. I just feel it is a waste of money. No issues with the power washer. It still pumps out enough to blast muck off but on saying that,
I do remember up to last summer I could use a sprinkler system in my garden and it would sway from side to side. This year it wont move and the water is not going high at all.

Thinking of selling the foam lance altogether and just use the power washer.

Are you disconnecting the bottle and flushing water through the fitting after each use?? Like you are foaming the car with just water....this keeps it cleaner for longer. As with cars, these need a bit of minor maintenance every now wnd then.
If not, the gauze will get blocked very quickly. As the foam dries out and wont shift on the next usage. Sometimes it can be saved by cleaning it.
Take it apart....if the gauze has a hint of white like fur, best I can describe it, then it needs cleaning. It should be clean and shiny tangle of thin steel wire.

Take a picture of it and stick it up.

    @ Curran.

It has basically been like this since I bought it so Gauze should be fine as it was brand new.

Flushed out with a full bottle of hot water after each use,

Still think it is water pressure.

I don't know anything about foam lances but if it was your water pressure you would definitely be experiencing other problems with your pressure washer. The pump would be starving with prolonged use i.e. when your hold the trigger down, after a while the water flow will stop and the pump will spin dry (the motor will run faster due to there being less resistance because there is only air in the pump not water). Pressure washers need very little in terms of water feed as they put out very little l/min compared to what a tap can do.

    So.
Last year the sprinkler in my garden would spray water at least 7 feet in the air.
This year I would be lucky to see 2/3 feet.

I do notice my pressure washer has not got the same power either but does not get starved as you put it.

    Hmm.
Wounder is the washer on the way out?

Time for a petrol one and head to the river when water charges come in LOL

Also thinking pressure is not your issue, can you block the top of the hose with your thumb (rule of thumb) with ease.

Well something you can do to rule out the water pressure is to look up the maximum l/min of your pressure washer. then get a 2l bottle (or bigger if you have one to hand) and time how long it takes to fill from the tap you normally use the washer from. work out the l/min and if it's more than the pressure washer you're golden :)
