Saroview box, intermittent signal problems

    Hi,

i have a digital decoder attached to my Philips TV. The picture quality is fine, but every so often the signal goes for a few seconds and I get vertical green lines on the screen. it usually rights itself but sometimes I have to switch the decoder box off/on to get the channels back.

It's happened more often in the last few days. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

i just have basic channels, no UPS/sky.

If it's a problem with the input signal to the box, rather than some output fault & it's definitely a terrestrial signal you're referring to & not free-to-air satellite, it could be due to the current weather conditions giving rise to enhanced signal propagation from transmitters on the same channel as your wanted one.

Transmission networks are planned so as to limit this disruption to a small percentage of time, but you have to be in an area that's properly served by the network & your receiving aerial needs to be able to discriminate properly between wanted & unwanted signals.

If it's a problem that's always present to some degree, then it's very likely that your receiving setup is only delivering a marginal signal & could possibly be improved.

Is the sound also affected ???

can you go into the box menu etc OK when the green lines appear?

If connected by HDMI, see what happens using a SCART cable instead, does it still happen?

    Hi,

Yes, the sound goes too. I am already using a scart cable to connect the decoder to the TV.

I cant get at the menu when the green lines appear - none of the buttons work. Its as if it gets stuck. Usually it rights itself after a few seconds.

It may be weather related as suggested by Peter Rhea, as its happening regularly for the past couple of weeks. I was happening maybe once a month before this.

Try a different scart lead or at least make sure the one you're using is plugged in properly.
