......well according to Wanderlust magazine it is.....
Setting an example for its nearby British neighbours, this city is pushing against urbanisation by developing a large-scale bicycle infrastructure. Soak up some of that famous Irish culture and indulge in a history or museum tour of the city. If you fancy it, the coast is only 20 minutes away so get on your bicicleta for a sea breeze.”
“Lock up your bike for the night, find a pub or gig and – maybe after a
Guinness or two – get involved in a merry jig. They also have pedicabs (think European rickshaws) if you don’t fancy doing your own peddling. Plenty of 30km/hour zones and cycle paths in the city combine ‘to make Dublin the safest EU capital’

......and sure if your bike breaks just leave it outside and leprechauns and fairyfolk will come along and fix it for ye.....

I might have added that last sentence.

Where all this "large-scale bicycle infrastructure"?

Dublin a good city to cycle in, but 7th best in Europe? I don't think so.

A painted line 1ft from the curb does not a cycling lane make...

Ah I dont know I think its grand - red lights for most are only an invitation to stop (and I mean for every road user), car drivers giving you a beep and a cheery wave, a friendly pat on the shoulder from a passing bus (wing mirror) and best of all the taxi drivers nearly insisting that you take a lift with them (by swinging into the curb half way through an overtake, wedging you between the curb and their back door).

Its Friday, its hot and a drunken busker has just kicked off outside the window (he's actually not that bad). The accordian player (who only plays one tune - over and over and over) has stopped for the moment. Oh, hang on, the zombies seem to be kicking off now, why do they bother with mobile phones at all with all that screaming you could hear them in Galway... dont know about 7th best for cycling but the street entertainment is second to none.
