Is anyone able to suggest a good power washer.

Will be used for washing out sheds, cleaning slurry tank, macherinery, etc.

is PTO the best option or will a stand alone one do the job.

    all advice appreciated.

If you have an old tractor that you can let tick over to drive a pto washer then that's the best option.
Water and electricity don't mix well when it comes to cleaning sheds. Especially when your washer gets a few years old.
Damp always works its way in and shuts it down.

I'd also recommend a turbo lance, quite expensive but if you look after it you should get 5 or 6 years out of it if you are doing a lot of washing.

Brand wise , the American one (hawk I think) is too expensive for what it is. A lot of unpronounceable Italian ones out there that are bullet proof.

I have a big electric one, I just use it for the parlour and for machinery. It has the steam cleaner in it, very handy. I has the turbo nozle. What ever you get get the turbo nozle on it. Makes things much faster, and i think it increases the psi by 25%. But I wouldn't use it for cleaning out shed. I usually hire I petrol one for the cubicle sheds. More power, so faster.
Question. The tractor ones with the 1000rpm box, do they have to be ran at 1000rpm for full pressure. Thinking of getting one. But I don't want to have to tractor running at high revs for the day in a shed, just to drive a pressure washer

Just barely ticking over should be fine.
I use one on a MF 265 on 540 most of the time and with the turbo lance you'd just have to rev it around 1300 or 1400.

Try Triace in Fermoy. The assemble washers there you'd get a good 3000psi washer for €1500 incl vat. 13hp honda with a good pump and unloader on it's own trolley simple and last for years.

Just tgo add on to what is already said,A continuous swivel for the back of the lance stop the hose curling/kinking.Use quick releases on the hose as it is easier to store it.Also make sure you can disconnect the lance and hose. The karcher machine usually has 5/16 hose and is expensive to replace their machine only works with this size .try and stick with a 3/8 hose as most hydraulic shops stock that size.Have a pto one with a hawk engine made up a pulley system ,5" pulley on pto and a 2" on the washer tractor just ticking over.
