Mac Mini Confusion

Hi all, I was hoping someone here could help me out, I just purchased a new mac mini i planned on using it with a dell monitor and i got a vga to hdmi adapter to use i ve tried everything but it just wont seem to work. Does anybody have any ideas on how how to solve my problem? Thanks, MJ

Where did you get this "adaptor" ? A proper HDMI to VGA converter ain't cheap so if you got this thing on eBay for a few Euro then it won't work. Can you post a link to it or a photo of it?

you should get a displayport to VGA adapter.
