    7...8...5...Lunar Disko Birthday, 2013

A brief history of the Lunar Landings

8 years ago... Borne of a want to showcase the ever emerging new dance craze of the West Coast of Holland on a reasonable night of the week (ie - not a Thursday) two young, fresh faced revellers by the name of Andy Doyle and Barry Donovan bring over Bangkok Impact and Dj TLR to Crawdaddy. There’d be no looking back - except for this rose-tinted blurb.

7 years ago... the Lunar parties go monthly, taking over various basements around the city for the next 6 years - most notably for a long stint of legendary nights in Kennedys - wherein they introduced Dublin dancers to the joys of The Hasbeens, Raiders of the Lost ARP, Egyptian Lover, Mr Pauli, Francisco, Dj Overdose, John Heckle, Neville Watson, Luke Eargoggle, Jus Ed...and an inflatable Llama.

The monthly parties wrapped up in 2012 wherein the Lunar Disko Module assimilated itself with the tuff guys and jackin’ dirtbags of Gary’s Gang. Let’s not forget that along with the parties with the Gang, Lunar Disko have involved themselves with Forza Italo, LIFE Fest, Shay D Promoters and NightFlight, playing alongside Arpanet, Alden Tyrell, David Vunk and Virgo 4, amongst others. Sure why stop when yer only enjoying yourself?

5 years ago... The latest Lunar Mission took flight with the debut release on Lunar Disko Records by LD regular Sneak Thief. From there it goes from strength to strength, introducing the world to the joys of Automatic Tasty, Submersible Machines, Vertical 67 and Meschi while also delivering killer slabs of wax by former party attendees such as Dj Overdose, Raiders of the Lost ARP, VC-118a, Lerosa, David Vunk and Mark Du Mosch. Bringing us up to the present day is the recently released 12 inch by up ‘n coming Dublin duo Slowburn. Phew!

And so, Lunar Disko HQ has decided that this coming August Bank Holiday weekend it’s time for another party. Or two. Or three. In Ireland. And USA. Would ye schtop!

For those of you currently residing in Dublin, Lunar Disko are teaming up with the inimitable Tabernacle Records for some Friday night/Saturday Morning shenanigans that’s looking a lil bit like this
