    Hi,

i was working full time for a few months driving and was getting 10.15 per hour, so now as the work isnt there i'm getting 2-3 days per week,

a month ago i went into dole office to sign back on for casual jsa so have been doing the x and o since then,

today i get a letter from social giving me details of the weekly means assessment but for the life of me i can't make it out so any help would be great,

here is details on the letter

it says you also have weekly means from employment amounting to €121.45
And for every day you work your daily means are €40,

So what i want to know is if i work 3 days this week what payment would i get from the social?

sorry if this sounds thick but i just can't follow the letter at all?

This is my take on it... assuming you have a €188 personal rate.... for every day you work €40 will be deducted if you work 3 days then you will receive €68... if you work 2 days you will receive €108... if you work 1 day you will receive €148... if you dont work any days you will receive €188...if you work more than 3 days you wont get anything as you have to be working 3 days or less to receive casual jobseekers.

    Thanks for the reply

ya my personal rate before i started working was €188, i didn't think they would take €40 a day off me when i'm just earning above the minimum wage, think i might have to think about packing it in, some days i would only work 4-5 hours so don't think it will pay me with the commute.

That's the annoying aspect of the x and o scheme. You can work up to 24hrs in 3 days and still get a high percentage of your dole. But if you work 8 hours over 4 days you get zilch. Does anyone know the thinking behind all this?

It's a crazy system that it doesn't allow you to do up to up to 24 hours per week rather than this whole work 1 hour a day for 4 days and you get nothing. No idea of the thinking, if any, behind it! You can still be looking for work working 24 hours over the course of a week rather than over 3 days.
