Hi guys! Basically me and my OH had a trip booked to Russia this summer. We were to fly to Sweden, spend two days there, then get a flight to Russia, spend 2 weeks there, hop the border into Latvia/Lithuania and back into Russia, before getting a connecting flight home through Copenhagan.

Now, the Russian visa won't be ready in time, so Russia is a no-no. But we still have a flight to sweden, and one home from Denmark. Anyone have any suggestions? :D We have three weeks and not much money. :pac:

    This is pretty far-out there, but it's just a suggestion;

How about spending ten days in Sweden, then ten in Denmark?

If I've learned anything from watching American CIA movies, it's that Russian soldiers never check the underside of trucks for illegal immigrants.

Give Germany or Belgium a go. Both are lovely countries.

Both are fairly expensive countries, so I was hoping to head closer to Eastern Europe for the majority of the three weeks.

I'm guessing you mean Central Europe.

You can get an overnight train from Malmo to Prague.

I assumed central Europe was like France and Portugal? I've had a few suggestions for Prague, but I've been there before and I'd love to see somewhere new. Thanks though :)

Portugal? It's about as far west in Europe as you can get. I'm not sure your geography skills suit independent travel. :P

Prague by train gets you central and then head to Poland, Slovakia, south to Hungary, Croatia etc.

Or head from Sweden into Finland - Ferry to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, etc.

How about fly to Sweden then over to Finland, down through the Baltic states through Northern Germany and up to Denmark to catch your flight home?

    Edit*^^What he said!

Airport hotels in both are around €60 a night for two, and you don't have to worry about expensive travel anywhere else, you could spend the time plane-spotting, or something.

According to my map of the world Ireland and the UK are at the west of Europe. Better throw it out so :P

Yes. You might also notice France and Portugal have an Atlantic coastline.

How the f*ck did you think France is considered "Central" Europe.

Prague is pretty much the slapbang centre of Europe. Look at it

I did. Ireland is a lot smaller than I always thought it was.

OP, if you don't have much money then Denmark and Sweden are out. They make Ireland look cheap. Painfully expensive.

Yeah they were only meant to be overnight connection flights, so we really didn't save enough to stay there properly. We could afford a Ryanair flight and a cheap hostel somewhere in Eastern Europe seeing as how we were half-planning on visiting the Baltic states anyway. :)

You have already been suggested the countries, what else are you looking for?

Accommodation suggestions, restaurants, sights, pubs, brothels??

Stockholm is a very expensive city but surprisingly nice, I wasn't expecting it to be anything like it was.

Get to Lithuania and your money will go a long way.

Heh, quite the opposite. I'd rather not stay in Sweden (nothing against it but don't have the funds)

Interrailing is pretty cool. You could do that for the two weeks?
