I started a new job about 2 months ago. I have been payin emergency tax, prsi, and more USC than I should be. Today I gave my employer my p45 from my old job.
Will I have to wait till the end of the year to reclaim that overpayed taxes or will I get it in my next pay cheque?
    Thanks

You wont have to wait. Your employer will send the p45 to Revenue, creating an employment with them on your records. This gets you off emergency tax.
To Speed up the process, ring Revenue yourself, and give them your employers PAYE registered number and start date. Itll be sorted there and then.

You can ask your employer for their registered number

Get registered as quick as possible with Revenue as employee at your new job. Revenue will then send new tax credits to your new employer and you get a refund of any tax and usc overpaid in your next payslip.

Is the date of leaving on P45 from your old job dated 2013 ?

    Yes.

so the above applies - all should be okay in time- Just ensure that when you get new tax credit cert , that it states at the top ' for tax year 2013 and following years ' rather than week1 basis

once new employer has your new tax credit cert and if its all in order, you should normally get it back in next payroll. In unusual circumstances if the refund is very large and it would disturb a company's cash flow, you might have to wait till year end. aways a good idea to give your payroll a buzz to check
